WHAT A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS TRULY ADDRESSES
A thorough examination is separate from routine servicing and maintenance, as equipment can continue operating while hidden safety concerns develop. We assess load-bearing parts, lifting points, attachments and other safety-critical components to determine whether equipment remains suitable for use. This can include high-lift pallet trucks, overhead gantry cranes, jib and mobile cranes, and trolley jacks.
We also assess patient hoists, bath lifts, lifting slings and relevant accessories such as chains, shackles, eye bolts and lifting magnets. Passenger and goods lifts, dumbwaiters and construction-site hoists may also fall within LOLER requirements. Cal 4 K Lifts explain the findings clearly, while examination records must be retained and serious defects reported and addressed as required.

KEEP YOUR LIFTING GEAR SAFE AND COMPLIANT
LOLER examinations are required for many types of lifting equipment and involve thorough checks for defects, wear and weaknesses that could affect safe operation. We inspect equipment, including forklift trucks, vehicle lifts, engine cranes, electric hoists, cherry pickers, scissor lifts, MEWPs, patient hoists and lifting accessories. Unless a different examination scheme has been established, examinations are generally required:
-
Every six months for lifting equipment used to lift people.
-
Every six months for lifting accessories.
-
Every 12 months for other lifting equipment.
-
Following exceptional circumstances that may affect equipment safety.
Examinations are completed by a competent, sufficiently independent person who can identify defects and assess their significance. Cal 4 K Lifts provides a formal written report covering the equipment examined, findings, defects and required action, helping you maintain accurate records and address issues promptly.

WHY THESE EXAMINATIONS MATTER BEYOND COMPLIANCE
Identifying defects early can help prevent unexpected downtime, failed audits and unsafe lifting operations. A formal examination provides documented evidence of the equipment's condition, supporting accurate records and helping you plan any necessary remedial work. It also distinguishes statutory examination duties from routine servicing, ensuring both responsibilities are properly managed.
Clear documentation gives you a practical basis for deciding what needs attention and when. Our professional inspection service helps businesses maintain appropriate records, understand identified defects and take timely action to keep their lifting operations safe and dependable.
